UK Court Finds Two Nigerians Guilty of Multiple Rapes
Two men of Nigerian origin, Tosin Dada and Solomon Ibukun Adebiyi, have been found guilty of multiple rape charges by the Northampton Crown Court in the United Kingdom.
According to a statement shared by Northamptonshire Police on their official Facebook page, the men, aged 34 and 39, attempted to defend themselves by claiming their encounter with a 17-year-old girl was consensual. However, the court rejected their claims.
The police statement read: “Tosin Dada, previously of Knox Road, Wellingborough, and Solomon Ibukun Adebiyi, previously of Stanley Street, Northampton, were each charged with three counts of rape relating to an offence on March 12, 2022.”
Following a nine-day trial, the jury reached a unanimous guilty verdict after eight hours of deliberation. Both men have been remanded in custody and will face sentencing on October 25, 2024.
This case has sparked significant attention, as it follows other high-profile convictions involving Nigerian nationals in the UK.
