Two Kidnap Suspects Arrested After Road Crash While Transporting Victim
Two suspected kidnappers, both ex-convicts, have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command following a road crash along the Osogbo/Ibadan Expressway. The suspects had abducted a female victim on March 3 after she boarded what appeared to be a commercial vehicle.
According to the police, the woman boarded the vehicle around 7:20 p.m. in Ikire. Inside were three men posing as fellow passengers. Once they reached Balogun area of Ikire, the men turned on her, tied her hands and legs, blindfolded her, seized her phone, and demanded cash and her ATM card. The kidnappers then made a U-turn and headed towards Ibadan.
However, before they could leave the area, the vehicle was involved in a crash. The commotion gave the victim an opportunity to raise an alarm, drawing the attention of the police and nearby residents. Their swift response led to the arrest of two suspects, while the third suspect managed to escape and is currently at large.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Adeola Adeoye, confirmed the arrest and noted that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
