Twitch Suspends Nigerian Comedian Carter Efe for Four Months Following Record-Breaking Livestream
Twitch has suspended popular Nigerian comedian Carter Efe’s account for four months, days after his record-breaking livestream with Afrobeats star Davido. The December 17, 2025, broadcast attracted massive attention online, propelling Carter Efe to become Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer with over 405,000 followers.
The comedian confirmed the suspension on Monday, citing violations of Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, though no specific details were provided. The account ban follows his surpassing of fellow Nigerian content creators, including Shank Comics, and delivering one of the platform’s most-watched livestreams alongside Davido.
Fans quickly rallied on social media, expressing support and urging Twitch to reconsider the decision, while speculation circulated that the suspension may have stemmed from mass reporting of comments or antics during the livestream. Reports of additional bans on other platforms were dismissed.
The suspension has disappointed many followers, particularly as it comes during the festive season, with calls growing for a swift resolution.
