“Trump Should Apologise to Iran and the World for Siding with Israel” — Oluwo of Iwoland

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has urged President Donald Trump to apologise to Iran for supporting Israel in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Osogbo, Oba Akanbi described the war as unnecessary and warned that the recent developments, including the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, could destabilise international peace. He called the action a grave violation of the principles of sovereignty and humanity.

The monarch criticised the United States for taking sides rather than pursuing diplomatic solutions. He highlighted that military strikes, coupled with Iran’s retaliatory responses, have disrupted international travel and trade, leaving airports closed and passengers stranded across the region.

“America, which claims to be a global referee, has compromised its credibility by siding in a war it should be helping to mediate. The assassination of a sovereign leader sets a dangerous precedent for the world,” Oba Akanbi said.

He also emphasised that true global leadership involves restraint and dialogue. “Peace achieves more than war ever could. It is not too late for President Trump to acknowledge this and make amends. An apology to Iran and the international community is necessary,” he added.

Oba Akanbi’s position echoes that of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who, speaking at the Lowy Institute in Sydney, described the recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran as inconsistent with international law. Carney called for urgent de-escalation and stressed that while Canada supports reforms in Iran’s governance, any actions must comply with international legal standards.

The Oluwo’s statement underscores growing concern among world leaders that unilateral military actions in the Middle East risk wider geopolitical instability and threaten the credibility of established powers.
