Troops Rescue Abducted Immigration Officers in Benue

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two Nigerian Immigration Service officers who were abducted in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The officers, identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were kidnapped near the Benue-Taraba border several weeks ago.

According to Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, the rescue operation was launched on Friday, September 26, 2025, after credible intelligence was received from superior authorities. Troops carried out the mission in Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village, within Azendeshi Council Ward of Ukum LGA.

The swift and coordinated assault forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives, allowing troops to recover the victims safely at Adamawa Village. The officers are now receiving medical care and debriefing in OPWS custody.

Commending the troops, OPWS Force Commander Major General Moses Gara praised their professionalism and emphasized the operation’s importance in safeguarding citizens and protecting farmers across Benue and neighboring states.

He also called on local communities to support security agencies by sharing timely intelligence, stressing that strong collaboration between residents and security forces is vital in defeating criminal groups.
