Tragic Error: Ogun State Security Outfit Admits Mistakenly Killing Pastor Adeniyi Adisa

The Ogun State Government-owned So-Safe Corps admitted to a grave mistake, the unintended killing of Pastor Adeniyi Adisa during a shootout with suspected kidnappers on July 1, 2023. The incident unfolded at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, where assailants took the life of a pastor and abducted seven worshippers.

Commander Soji Ganzallo of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps confirmed the operation in which his officers rescued the abducted church members and eliminated one of the kidnappers. However, the shocking truth emerged three months later: Adisa, a pastor from the Latter Rain Revival Christian Church, Olaogun, Ibadan, Oyo State, had been kidnapped separately by the gang of criminals who targeted the Redeemed Church.

Ganzallo addressed the media, flanked by the family of the deceased, in an attempt to set the record straight and offer condolences to the grieving family. He explained, “It was really an unfortunate situation, a very sad one that none of us is happy about. After this incident, So-Safe issued a release to the members of the public that seven kidnapped church members were rescued while one of the kidnappers was gunned down with others escaping with bullet wounds.”

He continued, “We, however, later got to know in the course of our investigation that the suspect killed was not a kidnapper but Pastor Adeniyi Adisa of Oke Oluokun, Ibadan, Oyo State who had earlier been kidnapped by the kidnappers and probably brought along to be freed after collecting the ransom before going for their next operation but maybe there was a delay somehow leading to this incident.”

The Ogun State Police Command has also conducted its investigation, affirming that Pastor Adeniyi Adisa was indeed a kidnapping victim and not a perpetrator. This public retraction aims to rectify the record and console the grieving family.

So-Safe Corps is working in close collaboration with the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, to provide compensation for Pastor Adeniyi Adisa’s children, which is expected to take place in the first week of November.

The family leader expressed their understanding and relief during the press briefing, acknowledging that it was an operational error and praising the integrity of the officers. The Adisa family’s sorrow is compounded by the loss, but they find solace in the clarification that their beloved Pastor Adeniyi Adisa was not a kidnapper.

The Ogun State So-Safe Corps and the authorities express their heartfelt condolences and pray for the peaceful rest of the departed soul.
