Tragedy Strikes as Building Collapses in Oyingbo, Lagos: One Fatality Reported
In a somber incident this Thursday morning, an elderly woman lost her life as a building partially collapsed on Oloto Street in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the woman succumbed to the impact of the partial collapse. LASEMA clarified that, fortunately, no other injuries were reported in connection to the incident.
The unfortunate event occurred around 7:45 am when an internal suspended beam in a room collapsed. Preliminary investigations point to the aging and lack of maintenance of the structure as contributing factors.
In response to the incident, the building has been cordoned off, and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has been alerted. LASEMA has initiated a search and rescue operation to ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
The community mourns the loss of one life and awaits further updates from the ongoing investigations.
