Tragedy on Osun Road as Father, Three Children, Maid Die in Crash
A tragic road accident on the Ife-Ilesa expressway in Osun State claimed the lives of a man, his three children, and their maid on Saturday morning. The crash, involving a Mark trailer and a Toyota Hilux, left the children’s mother critically injured and receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ipetumodu.
According to a statement from the Osun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the trailer driver was at fault for driving against traffic, leading to the fatal collision. FRSC spokesperson Agnes Ogungbemi confirmed that the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
The trailer driver has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, pending prosecution. FRSC Sector Commander Taofeek Adeyemi disclosed that cash totalling N508,900 and other belongings recovered at the scene were handed over to the victims’ relatives in the presence of police officers.
Adeyemi urged all motorists to obey traffic rules and avoid wrong-way driving, emphasizing that many avoidable deaths on Nigerian roads are the result of reckless behavior.
