Trader Abducted, Killed in Nasarawa Over N40,000 Debt, Police Make Arrests
In a tragic incident in Nasarawa State, police have apprehended two suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim and Isah Ayuba, for the abduction and murder of Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader. The suspects allegedly killed her to avoid repaying a debt of N40,000.
The Nasarawa State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday. Detectives from the Obi Division made the arrests after a missing person’s report was filed by Namkywa’s family, who had been unable to locate her for several days.
Investigations revealed that one of the suspects, who owed Namkywa N40,000, lured her with a phone call, asking her to meet him at a Fulani settlement under the guise of buying grains. However, this was part of a premeditated plot to kill her and steal her money.
According to the police, the suspects confessed to abducting the victim and taking her into a forest where they strangled her. They then dumped her body in a swamp and took N555,000 in cash from her.
The suspects later led police officers to the location, where Namkywa’s decayed remains were recovered. The investigation is ongoing, with the suspects in custody awaiting further legal action.
