Tinubu Supporters Backing Obi for ADC Ticket — Adeyanju
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has claimed that key supporters of President Bola Tinubu are backing Peter Obi to secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Adeyanju alleged that prominent figures aligned with Tinubu, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, are pushing for Obi to emerge as the ADC’s flagbearer.
He made the claim while reacting to recent comments by Fayose, who described Obi as the only viable figure within the ADC. Fayose had said that other figures in the party were politically weak, adding that Atiku Abubakar and Aminu Tambuwal were responsible for the decline of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post on X, Adeyanju questioned the motivation behind what he described as coordinated support for Obi by Tinubu’s allies. He suggested that the move reflects concern about the emergence of a strong northern presidential candidate.
Adeyanju argued that the pattern of public endorsements from Tinubu’s supporters points to unease over another run by Atiku Abubakar, noting that their preference for Obi appears deliberate and strategic.
