Tinubu Sends New Ambassadorial List to Senate, Adds Ibas, Dambazau, Ohakim, Others
President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, naming Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and former chief of naval staff, among those selected.
Also on the list are former senator Ita Enang, former Imo first lady Chioma Ohakim, and Abdulrahman Dambazau, who previously served as minister of interior and chief of army staff. Their names were missing from the earlier batch of nominees released by the presidency.
The nominations were contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary. Tinubu asked lawmakers to consider the candidates without delay so key diplomatic positions can be filled.
Akpabio referred the list to the Senate committee on foreign affairs, directing the panel to conduct screenings and return its report within one week.
This round of nominations follows Tinubu’s earlier selection of Reno Omokri, Femi Fani-Kayode, and Mahmood Yakubu for ambassadorial roles.
