“Tinubu only fears the North and northern leaders as far as 2027 is concerned” – Deji Adeyanju
Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has said President Bola Tinubu’s primary political concern ahead of the 2027 general elections is the position of Northern Nigeria and its political leaders.
Speaking on the growing political conversation around the next election cycle, Adeyanju argued that the President’s attention is largely focused on whether the North will maintain or withdraw its support.
He linked the concern to past electoral shifts, referencing the 2015 presidential election in which former President Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid after significant northern voting realignment.
Adeyanju wrote:

His comments suggest that political calculations around 2027 are increasingly centered on regional alliances, with particular attention on how northern political actors may position themselves.
