“Tinubu Must Not Enable Impunity” — Pro-Wike Lawmaker Urges President to Act Against Rivers Governor

A prominent member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Solomon Bobo, has implored President Bola Tinubu to take a firm stance against what he describes as the constitutional abuses by Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.

In a strongly worded statement released on Friday, Bob, a supporter of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed deep disappointment with a recent statement from the president’s media aide, labeling it as absurd.

Bob emphasized the necessity for Governor Fubara to face accountability for his actions, which he characterized as egregious and unconstitutional. He urged President Tinubu to withdraw any protective measures shielding Fubara and allow the legal process to address the governance issues in Rivers State.

“President Tinubu must not appear like an enabler of impunity and egregious unlawful behaviour,” Bob asserted. “Governor Fubara destroyed an entire branch of the government to the rubble. He is running a government without a budget and spending Rivers people’s money recklessly. He has illegally withheld funds due to local governments, and our people are running on empty.”

Bob, who represents the Abua-Odual and Ahoada East Federal Constituency, accused Fubara of several impeachable offenses and called on the House of Assembly to fulfill its constitutional duty without hindrance.

“The House of Assembly, which has the constitutional responsibility to take necessary measures against the governor, must not be fettered,” he stated. “At the moment, that’s the impression I get. I listened to the president’s media aide the other day, and I was disappointed. His statement is preposterous. If you do nothing in the face of gross lawlessness and constitutional abuse such as Fubara is displaying in Rivers State, that’s not neutrality; that’s siding with impunity, lawlessness, and tyranny.”
