Tinubu Lacks Solutions for Nigeria’s Challenges – Usman Bugaje

In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, political activist Usman Bugaje asserted that President Bola Tinubu lacks the capability to tackle the multifaceted challenges currently facing Nigeria. Bugaje, a former member of the House of Reps, criticized the government’s approach to economic issues, particularly since the cessation of fuel subsidy payments and the floating of the naira.

The removal of the fuel subsidy has led to widespread economic hardship, with inflation soaring to 29.90 percent and triggering protests in various parts of the country. Despite the government’s efforts to address these challenges, Bugaje remains steadfast in his belief that Tinubu’s administration is faltering in providing viable solutions.

Bugaje specifically criticized the government for terminating the subsidy without adequate plans to mitigate its impacts. He expressed disappointment that Tinubu did not surround himself with experts and failed to announce the removal of the subsidy with a comprehensive plan to address its consequences.

“When the new government took over, we were expecting that he would surround himself with expertise. You don’t make a policy without looking at the consequences and preparing to cushion the effect of that. But apparently, he did that without preparation,” Bugaje stated during the interview.

Bugaje further attributed the lack of effective decision-making to a circle of sycophants surrounding Tinubu, suggesting that these advisors may be hindering the president from receiving accurate information about the state of the country. He criticized the absence of constructive ideas and solutions within the president’s inner circle, emphasizing the need for honest engagement and proactive measures to address Nigeria’s challenges.

The activist concluded by highlighting the apparent disconnect between Tinubu’s administration and the realities on the ground, asserting that excuses are being made instead of concrete actions to tackle the country’s pressing issues.
