Tinubu Inherited A Bankrupt Country – NSA Ribadu

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, addressed the financial challenges faced by the current administration, attributing them to a previously ‘bankrupt country’ inherited from the preceding leadership. Speaking at the Chief of Defence Intelligence Annual Conference 2023 in Abuja, Ribadu acknowledged the strain on the budget but assured a commitment to bolster the country’s defense management despite financial constraints.

Ribadu emphasized the administration’s dedication to fortifying the defense apparatus despite financial limitations. The conference, attended by key figures in the defense sector, highlighted the importance of effective regional collaboration for bolstering national security.

Discussing the complexities of internal and external threats, including terrorism, secessionist movements, and cyber threats, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, underlined the agency’s determination to leverage defense capabilities to ensure national security.

The NSA’s speech also touched upon the impact of recent coups in neighboring countries, emphasizing the need for strategic engagement with allies to safeguard national security objectives.

The statements made at the conference showcased a resolve to confront the multifaceted security challenges faced by Nigeria, emphasizing collaboration and support for the armed forces to achieve peace and stability in the nation.
