Tinubu Has Ended South-East Marginalisation — Umahi

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has brought an end to the long-standing marginalisation of the South-East region in Nigeria’s political and infrastructural development. Umahi made this statement during a civic reception held in his honour by the Okposi Okwu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, in recognition of his contributions to social harmony, economic empowerment, and infrastructure growth.

Speaking through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, the Minister praised Tinubu for what he described as a historic shift towards inclusion, citing an equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy across all six geo-political zones. He specifically noted that the President’s administration has taken deliberate steps to address the grievances of the South-East, especially in areas where the region had previously been overlooked.

Umahi, who is the first person from the region to serve as Minister of Works since Nigeria’s independence, pointed to the ongoing road infrastructure projects across the South-East as proof of Tinubu’s commitment to correcting past imbalances. He urged the people of the region to rally behind the President in the 2027 general election as a gesture of appreciation and continued support.

The event was attended by prominent political figures including Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State. Also in attendance were former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator Pius Anyim, former Governors Martin Elechi and Olusegun Osoba, and Chief Emma Enukwu, APC National Vice Chairman for the South-East.
