Tinubu Government Reportedly Gifts Each Governor Joining APC N250bn, Senator N1bn, Rep Member N500m for Defection

According to an exclusive report from Sahara Reporters, the Tinubu administration has allegedly launched a massive financial inducement scheme aimed at persuading opposition governors and lawmakers to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Senior sources within the Presidency reportedly disclosed that the wave of recent defections from opposition parties to the APC is being fueled by huge cash offers coordinated directly from the Presidency and managed by top officials close to President Bola Tinubu.

The report claims that each state governor who defected to the APC received a package worth N250 billion. The funds were allegedly distributed in two tranches — an initial N100 billion “grant” upon commitment to defect, followed by a balance of N150 billion after the official defection ceremony. Senators were said to have received N1 billion each, while members of the House of Representatives reportedly got N500 million.

In the past few weeks, several key opposition figures have joined the APC, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Governor Mbah, who announced his defection in October, said his decision was guided by a desire to align with the APC’s “vision for development and progress” and to advance the interests of his state. He expressed gratitude to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for providing a platform for his earlier political success but described his move as a necessary step for growth.

Bayelsa’s Governor Douye Diri also announced his defection in early November after weeks of speculation, drawing thousands of supporters to Yenagoa in celebration. Diri stated that he left the PDP “in the best interest of Bayelsa,” stressing that politics should be about development rather than division.
