“Tinubu, Akpabio, Wike Are Nigeria’s Most Dangerous Persons” – Sowore
Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has launched a fresh wave of criticism against President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, describing them as the most dangerous individuals in Nigeria’s political landscape. Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Sowore condemned the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, asserting that the move is part of a broader plan to consolidate control over one of Nigeria’s wealthiest states.
Sowore accused the trio of rising to power through what he termed a long-standing pattern of criminality and impunity without facing consequences. He argued that the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State is a calculated effort by Wike, with Tinubu’s backing, to seize control of the state from Governor Siminalayi Fubara. According to Sowore, “Everything has been pointing to that process ever since Fubara was appointed — or selected, whichever way you want to put it.”
He further alleged that Wike had directly reached out to Tinubu to intervene and ensure control of the state, describing the operation as a joint effort aimed at political domination. “These are guys that are very dangerous. They are dangerous because they have lived a life of crime and impunity and got away with it,” Sowore said, adding that their unchecked ascent poses a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic structures.
Sowore also expressed doubt over the integrity of the National Assembly, stating that lawmakers would readily support Tinubu’s controversial emergency declaration. “They gang up against us; we must gang up against them too,” he said, calling on Nigerians to resist what he sees as elite collusion against the people.
The president’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State has sparked significant backlash, with critics describing it as unconstitutional. While presidential aides have defended the move, public skepticism remains high.
Adding fuel to the controversy, SaharaReporters disclosed that large sums of money were allegedly distributed at Senate President Akpabio’s Maitama residence to sway lawmakers in favor of the emergency rule. According to the report, 42 senators received $10,000 each on Wednesday night, while another 45 were given $5,000 each on Tuesday night to secure their endorsement of the measure.
