Thugs Disrupt Governor Fubara’s Supreme Court Victory Rally in Rivers State

The celebratory rally marking Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Supreme Court victory took an unexpected turn as chaos erupted at the initial venue. Allegedly acting on the order of the Council Chairman, a group of youths vandalized canopies and chairs, prompting the event’s relocation.

Despite the disruption, the rally successfully reconvened at an alternate location, where Council Chairman Hope Ikiriko addressed the allegations. “We have advised ourselves, and I urge that we conduct ourselves very well. Security agents and our office have collaborated to ensure peace in this program,” stated Ikiriko, seeking to reassure attendees.

Governor Fubara’s supporters remained undeterred, with an impressive turnout at the relocated venue. Notable figures, including past and serving lawmakers, commissioners, and the Governor’s representative, former Chief Whip Evans Bipi, were present.

Sokari Goodboy, leader of Governor Fubara’s supporters in Ahoada West, called on the presidency and the police high command to take note of the provocative actions by the alleged thugs.

Addressing the crowd, Evans Bipi dispelled rumors of potential suspensions from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other threats, urging supporters to stand strong. The event also saw defectors from the opposition party joining the PDP in support of Governor Fubara.

Across the state, rallies celebrating the Supreme Court victory continue, with supporters organizing street processions and open-air thanksgiving services.
