Those Who Announced Fake Edo Results Are Behind Rigging Allegations – Okpebholo
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has accused those who fabricated election results during the September 21 governorship election of being the same individuals alleging electoral malpractice. Speaking at a homecoming reception in Edo Central, organized by the Esan people to celebrate his victory, Okpebholo said the electorate’s choice must be respected.
Addressing supporters on Saturday, Okpebholo expressed gratitude to the people of Edo for their overwhelming support and assured them he would fulfill his promises. He also extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership for their commitment to justice and equity during the electoral process, which he credited for his victory.
“The people who wrote and announced fake results online are now the ones crying foul, accusing others of rigging,” Okpebholo said. “It’s unfortunate that these individuals, who tried to undermine democracy, are lamenting their loss. They will continue to lose because Edo people have spoken—they have chosen development, peace, and unity.”
Okpebholo praised the Esan community for their steadfast support, acknowledging the trust they placed in him through their votes. He vowed not to disappoint the people of Edo State, pledging to uphold justice and fulfill his mandate.
“Thank you to the Esan people for standing by me and ensuring this resounding victory. This crowd today shows your faith in me, and I will not let you down,” he said. “I also appreciate the traditional rulers, party leaders, and all who stood firm to make this possible. Above all, I give glory to God.”
The governor reiterated his commitment to serving all residents of Edo State, promising a government dedicated to unity and progress.
