In a recent statement, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has expressed deep concern over the economic challenges facing Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to the spiritual leader, the government lacks the necessary solutions to address the nation’s economic hardships.
Primate Ayodele’s warning comes with a call for Nigerians to brace themselves for even more challenging times ahead. He emphasized that Nigeria’s reliance on borrowing to sustain its economy could lead to the financial incapacity of several states, further exacerbating the nation’s economic woes.
Ayodele’s spokesperson, Oluwatosin Osho, conveyed the message, indicating that Nigeria’s economy is likely to experience continued fluctuations in the coming four years, leaving many citizens struggling to make ends meet.
The spiritual leader stressed that one of the fundamental ways to combat economic hardship is through a concerted effort to fight corruption within the country. He believes that without a strong commitment to addressing corruption, the government will be unable to alleviate the economic challenges faced by Nigerians.
Primate Ayodele also weighed in on recent statements made by the Chairman of BUA Group, promising to reduce cement prices to N3000. Expressing skepticism about the feasibility of this promise, he stated, “I want to advise the minister of finance and CBN governor that there is no way Nigeria will survive without borrowing. So many states will be incapacitated if the country doesn’t borrow. Nigeria’s economy is sitting on a time bomb; the government will not get the solution to economic troubles. We will continue to suffer this for four years. The President needs so much work in the economy; if you don’t fight corruption, you can’t eradicate economic hardship and I don’t see that fight happening. The CBN governor is sitting on a hot seat. BUA cement said he will bring down cement to N3000. I am not seeing the possibility because things will get tougher.”
