“They Are Sore Losers, Tinubu Haters” — Presidency Slams Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai Coalition

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the newly announced coalition of opposition leaders—comprising Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Nasir El-Rufai of the Social Democratic Party—as a gathering driven by hatred and personal grievances. The coalition, unveiled on Thursday at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, is aimed at unseating Mr Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking shortly after the announcement, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga described the alliance as “a coalition of Tinubu haters” and accused its leaders of being motivated by selfish interests rather than the public good. “They are disgruntled. They are a frustrated lot. The leaders are sore losers. Their agenda is to stop Tinubu,” Mr Onanuga said.

Mr Onanuga insisted that the president remains focused on governance, highlighting what he described as “solid achievements” just two months before the administration’s midterm. He emphasized that Mr Tinubu is addressing long-standing national challenges and will not be distracted by political maneuvering. “President Tinubu is focused on governance to build a prosperous country. He is on the way to achieving this,” he said.

The coalition was announced following a joint press conference held in response to Mr Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. Atiku Abubakar, addressing the media, declared the formation of the coalition as the beginning of a united opposition front ahead of the next presidential election.
