“There Is Nothing Wrong Being Accused of Chasing a Woman” — Dave Umahi Responds to Allegations
Minister of Works Dave Umahi has rejected claims of sexual harassment, asserting that being accused of pursuing a woman does not constitute wrongdoing.
Umahi addressed journalists on Saturday in response to allegations by a woman identified as Tracy Nither Ohiri. The minister maintained that he has never harassed anyone during his time in public office.
“I owe nobody. I presided over both men and women, and no one ever accused me of harassment,” Umahi said.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor of Ebonyi State, he cited his track record in infrastructure development as evidence of his integrity. “I served as governor for eight years and delivered significant infrastructure. False accusations come only from those with mischievous intent,” he added.
Responding directly to the claims, Umahi stated that being perceived as pursuing a woman is not inherently improper. He also framed the controversy as largely amplified by social media.
“It’s primarily a social media issue. Nigerians should focus on global events, such as the situation in Iran, and allow me to rest,” he said.
