“The Last Kick of a Dying Horse” — Anambra APC Slams Soludo Over Tinubu Visit

 

The Anambra chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Chukwuma Soludo of desperation following his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa. Okechukwu Modebe, spokesperson for the Nicholas Ukachukwu/Uche Ekwunife campaign organisation, described the August 12 meeting as “the last kick of a dying horse,” claiming it was a calculated attempt to revive Soludo’s political standing ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

 

Modebe alleged that Soludo’s appearance with Tinubu, including wearing a cap bearing the president’s insignia, was staged to project an endorsement that “does not exist.” He added that such gestures could not mask what he termed four years of misgovernance, disconnection from the grassroots, and political missteps.

 

Soludo, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had publicly expressed support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid after the closed-door meeting. The APC maintained that it is focused on winning both the upcoming governorship contest and the August 16 Anambra South senatorial re-run.

 

Modebe urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure credible elections, warning that “the days of business-as-usual in Anambra politics are over.”
