Tensions Boil in Enugu as Residents Protest Police Killing of Popular Local Ogene Musician

The city of Enugu is gripped by unrest as protests break out following the death of Igbo Jah, a well-known local musician, allegedly shot by a police inspector. Authorities have confirmed that the inspector in question has been detained and that a full investigation is underway, according to Enugu State Police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe.

The killing has sparked outrage among residents, who have taken to the streets in large numbers. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the anti-cult unit’s headquarters, with some attempting to set the building ablaze, demanding justice for the slain musician. In Onu Asata and nearby areas, protesters blocked roads, set tires on fire, and chanted slogans, expressing their anger and frustration.
