‘Take Your Israeli Security Experts To Rivers Not Abuja’ MURIC Tells FCT Minister Wike
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has expressed reservations regarding the intentions of Mr. Nyesome Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to enter into a partnership with Israeli security experts aimed at enhancing security in Abuja.
Mr. Wike, in a statement made yesterday, disclosed his plans to collaborate with Israeli security professionals to bolster security measures within the FCT. However, MURIC has raised alarm bells, cautioning against such a move. The organization contends that such an alliance with the State of Israel could potentially exacerbate Nigeria’s existing security challenges by transforming them from a domestic crisis into an international predicament, possibly orchestrated by MOSSAD, Israel’s intelligence agency. This, in turn, could attract the attention and involvement of global espionage agencies such as the American CIA and Russian SVR and FSB.
MURIC’s Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, articulated the organization’s concerns in a statement issued on Thursday. He argued that Mr. Wike’s perceived inclination towards Israel may stem from a misunderstanding, common among Nigerian Christians, that Israel is a Christian nation, contrary to the reality of it being primarily a Jewish state.
Akintola elaborated further, referencing recent incidents in Israel, including one where Jews allegedly mistreated Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem. He contended that Christians in Israel face constant challenges, and Israel’s contentious stance on various United Nations resolutions related to its actions further complicates matters.
In his concluding remarks, Akintola emphasized his skepticism about partnering with Israel for security purposes, stating, “A terrorist state cannot be the ideal security partner for us in Nigeria. Wike should take the Israelis to Rivers State. Israel constitutes an existential threat to both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria.”
As this partnership proposal between Minister Wike and Israeli security experts unfolds, it remains a subject of debate, with differing opinions about its potential impact on Nigeria’s security landscape.
