Suspect Arrested After Beheading Man in Ebonyi Over Land Dispute
The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the gruesome killing of a man in Oso-Edda, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The victim, identified as Dick Nnachi, was reportedly beheaded during a violent clash linked to the long-standing land dispute between Oso-Edda and the neighbouring Amasiri community in Afikpo Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Sunday, August 31, 2025. He said officers had been deployed to restore calm in the area.
“I can confirm that it happened. We’ve already deployed our men to the area. This is a communal issue that has been going on for over a decade. The government is still working on demarcating the land and stakeholders have been warned to stay away from the disputed area,” Ukandu explained.
According to him, normalcy has since been restored while investigations continue.
