Super Eagles to President Tinubu: Join Us Live, Don’t Just Watch on TV
In a bold move to boost morale and enhance support, the Super Eagles have personally invited President Bola Tinubu to witness their matches live at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. Captain Ahmed Musa conveyed this message during a virtual meeting with Sports Minister John Enoh.
Expressing their desire for presidential attendance, Musa emphasized that having President Tinubu present in Cote d’Ivoire would significantly amplify their determination to secure victory in the tournament. Musa stated, “We don’t want the president to watch our matches on television anymore; we want him over here to come and cheer us to victory.”
During the meeting, Senator Enoh shared that he had a chance encounter with President Tinubu, who, while acknowledging the team’s progress, expressed some reservations about their performance in the group stage. However, he conveyed the president’s anticipation for an improved showing in the upcoming matches.
Enoh assured the players that Nigerians are solidly behind them, eagerly supporting their quest for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title. He emphasized the importance of staying focused, listening to their ambitious coach, Jose Peseiro, and urged the team to disregard distractions, including social media.
“I will even suggest that you do away with your social media… don’t listen to WhatsApp messages. Imagine what it would be like to be among the boys that won Nigeria’s fourth Africa Cup of Nations title. That would be a great achievement,” he encouraged the players.
As the Super Eagles march forward in the tournament, the invitation to President Tinubu adds a unique dimension to their campaign, fostering a sense of unity and shared national pride.
