Sports Minister Backs Peseiro’s Return to Super Eagles, Initiates Talks
Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has thrown his support behind the return of Jose Peseiro to the Super Eagles, according to information gathered by Daily Post.
A well-placed source within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that Enoh has already reached out to Peseiro’s representatives to discuss his potential comeback to manage the Super Eagles. The Portuguese coach is reportedly open to the idea of resuming his role.
“The Sports Minister is in talks with Peseiro’s representatives; he wants him to return,” the source told DAILY POST. “Peseiro is open to returning too. The situation will become clearer in the coming days.”
Peseiro previously led the Super Eagles to a strong second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. However, his tenure ended in February following the expiration of his contract.
Given his successful stint with the Super Eagles, Enoh’s move to re-engage Peseiro has garnered attention and could be instrumental in shaping the future direction of Nigerian football.
