Speaker Abbas Declares Idahosa’s Seat Vacant
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Wednesday officially declared the seat of Denis Idahosa, the deputy governor of Edo State, vacant.
Idahosa, who previously represented Ovia Federal Constituency in the House, was elected deputy governor during the Edo State governorship election held on September 21 and was subsequently inaugurated on November 12.
A letter presented on the House floor by the Speaker, and submitted by House Leader Julius Ihonvbere, requested the declaration of the seat as vacant to initiate the process of electing a new representative for the people of Ovia Federal Constituency.
With this development, the House of Representatives now has four vacant seats awaiting fresh elections to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
