Spanish Police Reveal Likely Cause of Diogo Jota Crash
Spanish police have revealed that excessive speed was likely the cause of the tragic car crash that killed Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota and his brother last week.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Civil Guard, early findings from the investigation suggest Jota’s vehicle may have been travelling faster than the legal limit when it veered off a motorway in Spain.
“The marks left by one of the vehicle’s wheels indicate a possible excessive speed beyond the road’s speed limit,” officials said, adding that inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Jota’s sudden death has shocked the football world, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, and clubs around the globe.
