“Southeast Votes for Tinubu Will Shock Nigerians, Obi Doesn’t Matter” – Shittu
Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure significant support from the Southeast in the 2027 general elections, a development he said will surprise many Nigerians.
Shittu made the remarks during an interview on *Prime Time*, a programme on Arise Television, on Wednesday.
“If you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” Shittu stated.
According to him, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is steadily gaining ground in the region, largely due to the efforts of Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, and other party figures working to build support for Tinubu.
“Even the people from the South East, with the efforts of people like Dave Umahi and so many others, a lot of people are getting convinced to come the Tinubu route,” he added.
The former minister also downplayed the influence of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that his relevance in the political landscape will not alter the outcome of the 2027 elections.
“It doesn’t matter. What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win,” Shittu said.
