South African woman gives birth to 10 babies, breaks Guinness World record
A South African woman, Gosiame Sithole, has broken the Guinness World Record as she gives birth to 10 babies, according to agency reports.
Sithole, 37, gave birth to seven boys and three girls, breaking the world record previously held by a Malian woman, Halima Cisse, who gave birth to nine children in Morocco last month.
According to reports, Sithole’s babies came through caesarian operation, surprising her and her husband Teboho Tsotetsi.
Teboho stated that his wife was not on any fertility treatment, saying that her pregnancy was natural.
On arrival of the babies, Teboho said “It’s seven boys and three girls. She was seven months and seven days pregnant. I am happy. I am emotional. I can’t talk much. Let’s talk again in the morning please,”
Sithole had earlier said, “I am shocked by my pregnancy. It was tough at the beginning.”
“I was sick. It was hard for me. It’s still tough but I am used to it now. I don’t feel the pain anymore, but it’s still a bit tough.”
“I just pray for God to help me deliver all my children in a healthy condition, and for me and my children to come out alive. I would be pleased about it.”
The couple now have twelve children, they already have six-year-old twins.
