“Soludo is Only Interested in Re-Election, Not Security” – Ebube Muonso

Catholic priest and Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, has once again criticized Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo over the worsening security situation in the state.

During a recent prayer march, he expressed frustration that repeated calls for the governor to take decisive action against insecurity have yielded no meaningful results. Fr. Obimma accused Soludo of prioritizing his re-election campaign over the safety of Anambra residents.

“There is no security in Anambra State, and your governor doesn’t want to know. He is not interested. He is only interested in preparation for his second tenure,” the priest stated. He lamented that despite rising cases of kidnappings and killings, the governor appears indifferent, focusing instead on personal celebrations and political ambitions.

The priest questioned whether politicians still have a conscience, criticizing Soludo for allegedly downplaying the security crisis while being heavily protected by security personnel. “Have you seen the convoy of the Anambra State governor – with dozens of policemen, soldiers, DSS, armored vehicles, and other things? He is well protected, but what of the poor masses, who do not have anything to protect themselves?” he asked.

According to him, kidnappers from neighboring states now see Anambra as a safe haven due to the government’s inaction. He challenged the governor to account for the state’s security budget, arguing that Anambra’s small landmass makes it easy to secure if the government is committed.

Obimma further decried the silence of state lawmakers, accusing them of failing to hold the governor accountable. “Members of the state assembly are not telling him anything! Has it not affected them? One of them has been with the kidnappers since December 24, 2024. What decisive action are they taking?” he questioned.

In response, Governor Soludo attributed the growing insecurity to what he described as a “conspiracy of silence” among residents. Speaking at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, he argued that criminals live within communities as family members and friends, yet people refuse to report them. He maintained that the government and security agencies cannot fight crime alone and called for greater cooperation from the public.
