Hon Azuka Was Killed Because He Was in Labour Party, Not APGA – Soludo’s Government Must Answer, Says Fr. Ebube Muonso
Rev. Fr. Chibuzo Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, has alleged that the murder of Anambra lawmaker Justice Azuka was politically motivated. In a video circulating online, the cleric claimed that Azuka was targeted because he was a member of the Labour Party rather than the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He also accused the state government of complicity in the suspects’ escape.
“Can you imagine? The suspects who were apprehended for the death of Hon. Azuka from the Labour Party—he was not from APGA, not from APC, but Labour Party. The suspects were arrested and handed over to Anambra State security. How come that two of them escaped from prison? Can you imagine?” Obimma questioned.
He alleged that the escape of the suspects had political undertones and suggested that those responsible for the crime bribed their way to freedom. “Anambra State should rise. That means this has a political undertone. That was a political killing. And those involved, they have bribed their way. Because those people, the only ones who know the truth, are gone. Who is fooling who in this state? Two suspects, two major suspects, and they say there is government in this state,” he stated.
The cleric further expressed concerns about corruption within the security system, stating that power and political connections enable impunity. “The inhumanity of man to man. Once you are connected to the powers that be, then you are under perpetual immunity. But let everybody, let those in charge remember that there is God in everything you are doing in this world. I said it earlier. You are on your own.”
Obimma also described a “strange demonic force hovering over Anambra,” claiming that such influences are behind the state’s unrest. “Even those kidnappers, they were able to escape because they bribed their way. I wonder if Soludo is in charge of this state at all. They wanted to cover somebody,” he alleged.
The controversy stems from the brutal killing of Hon. Justice Azuka, a Labour Party member of the Anambra State House of Assembly. He was abducted by gunmen on Christmas Eve while returning home. His body was later found dumped on the Second Niger Bridge. Two key suspects, who were in police custody, managed to escape under unclear circumstances, raising questions about the handling of the case by security agencies and prompting calls for a thorough investigation.
