Soludo Explains Why He Wore Tinubu’s Cap During Visit to Aso Rock
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has explained why he was seen wearing a cap bearing the insignia of President Bola Tinubu during his visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday. Speaking to State House correspondents after his meeting with the President, Soludo said the discussion was private but described the encounter as a very pleasant one, with the President in good health and high spirits.
When asked about wearing a cap associated with President Tinubu despite being a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo clarified that the caps were produced during the President’s visit to Anambra and symbolized the unity of progressives across political parties. He emphasized his belief in the importance of progressive parties forming a coalition to strengthen democracy and promote economic and social development in Nigeria.
Soludo also highlighted his longstanding friendship with President Tinubu, which spans over 22 years. He expressed admiration for the President’s bold economic reforms and structural changes, stating his support for the direction the administration is taking and urging Nigerians to remain committed to the course.
On the security challenges in Anambra State, Soludo outlined a comprehensive strategy combining both kinetic (military and enforcement) and non-kinetic (youth empowerment and social programs) approaches. He referenced the state’s Homeland Security Law passed in January aimed at addressing insecurity from its roots. According to Soludo, efforts to curb criminality include targeting “deadly native doctors” who mislead youths into crime. The governor detailed initiatives to empower young people through training and financial support, noting that around 5,000 youths have already been empowered, with an additional 8,700 set to receive funding soon as part of the state’s ongoing commitment to security and development.
