Soludo Applauds Tinubu, Says Fuel Subsidy Removal Courageous
In a resounding endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s recent decision to terminate fuel subsidies, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State praised the move for its potential to reshape the nation’s economic landscape. Governor Soludo conveyed his support during the 9th (7th Quadrennial) Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Anambra State wing, on Tuesday.
Governor Soludo, addressing the conference attendees, emphasized the importance of recognizing Nigeria’s economic reality and the necessity of aligning spending with available resources. He applauded President Tinubu for his courage in taking the bold step of ending the long-standing fuel subsidy, highlighting the broader positive implications for the nation’s financial well-being.
“It’s high time the country woke up to the reality that it is a poor country and began to live within its means,” Governor Soludo remarked. He stressed the importance of leadership setting an example by demonstrating responsible fiscal practices and showing the public that the nation’s financial limitations must be acknowledged.
Governor Soludo emphasized that the removal of the fuel subsidy had far-reaching effects that extended beyond civil servants. He noted that the current administration’s strategy to mitigate the impact of the subsidy removal encompassed both immediate and medium-term measures, aiming to provide comprehensive support to the citizens.
Looking ahead, Governor Soludo shared his government’s commitment to enhancing the education sector. He announced plans to increase the recruitment of teachers, ensuring that accessible and high-quality education remains a priority for the state.
As President Tinubu’s decision to end fuel subsidies continues to reverberate throughout Nigeria, the endorsement from Governor Soludo adds another layer of significance to the ongoing debate surrounding the nation’s economic strategies. With a spotlight on responsible financial management, the country appears poised to navigate these changes while striving to maintain crucial services and support for its citizens.
