Showdown Brewing: Lawmaker Goodhead, Others Dare Wike to Step Foot in State

In a bold move, Boma Goodhead, the lawmaker representing Akuku/Asari Toru Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, alongside fellow protesters, has openly challenged the return of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to Rivers State. The group also urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, warning Wike not to disturb the peace of the state.

During the protest led by Goodhead, participants emphasized their determination not to allow the FCT Minister to exert influence over Rivers State, cautioning Wike against setting foot in the state he governed for eight years. The protesters also called for Tinubu’s intervention, asserting that Wike should be held accountable for any disruption of the state’s tranquility.

Goodhead delivered a strong message to the Federal Government of Nigeria, stating, “Tinubu believes that Wike delivered Rivers State to him, but even Wike failed in his unit, ward, and local government area. We are here to tell Ahmed Bola Tinubu to call Wike to order because the next time he comes into Rivers State to disturb the peace, we will not stand idly by.”

The protesters further challenged Wike to revisit Rivers State, daring him with the words, “Wike should come to Rivers State, and we’ll show him what it means to hold Rivers State. We dare you to come back to Rivers State again if you’re a man.” The situation remains tense as political tensions continue to escalate in the region.
