“Go Home and Sleep with Your Two Eyes Closed, We Are in Charge” — Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reassured Rivers State residents that the ongoing political tensions are under control.
Speaking at the Wakirike Ethnic Nationality’s civic reception in Ogu on Saturday, Wike emphasized his authority in the state and encouraged citizens to remain calm.
He also highlighted his role in recommending Boma Iyaye to President Bola Tinubu for the position of Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Wike described the process as challenging and credited divine guidance for his decision.
“I looked left and right and said, ‘God guide me.’ I give God the glory for guiding me to recommend Boma Iyaye to the president,” he said.
Wike praised Iyaye for using his new role to positively impact his community and encouraged leaders to seize opportunities to benefit their people.
“Position comes with envy and hatred, but Boma, God will bless you for making your people happy. I thank God you did not disappoint me or the president,” he added.
He concluded with reassurance to residents: “Go home and sleep with your two eyes closed. We are in charge.”
