Shocking Incident Uncovered: Doctor Arrested for Allegedly Harvesting Woman’s Kidney in Jos
In a startling turn of events, the Plateau State Police Command has apprehended a medical practitioner under suspicion of unlawfully removing a woman’s kidney in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
The suspect’s arrest was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, who emphasized that a comprehensive investigation into the case is currently underway. Alfred stated, “We are still investigating. We can’t say anything now.”
The arrest of the doctor came to light following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s husband, identified as Alhaji Kamal, at the Nasarawa police station. In his complaint, Alhaji Kamal alleged that the doctor had conducted the kidney removal surgery on his wife, Kehinde Kamal, back in 2018.
Providing a chilling account of the incident, Alhaji Kamal recounted, “Sometime in January 2018, my wife, Kehinde Kamal, complained of pains around her abdomen, and a so-called doctor diagnosed her, stating that she was suffering from appendicitis and needed immediate surgery.”
He went on to explain, “We paid for the full cost of the drugs and hospital bills as directed by the doctor. My wife was in good health before the operation, but shortly afterward, she began experiencing severe pains. We endured the pain for years while continuing to consult the same doctor.”
Alhaji Kamal continued, “Around the end of August, the pain became unbearable, leading us to seek medical help at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). Shockingly, it was confirmed that one of her kidneys had been removed.”
Desperate for answers and justice, the couple sought a second opinion from a specialist at a private hospital in Jos, who confirmed that Kehinde Kamal had indeed undergone an unauthorized kidney removal procedure.
Alhaji Kamal concluded, “What I seek is justice. I want the world to be aware of the suffering my wife has endured.” This shocking incident has left the local community in disbelief, prompting authorities to transfer the detained doctor from Nasarawa Gwom police station to the state police headquarters for further investigation.
The Plateau State Police Command continues to delve into this disturbing case, with the hope of uncovering the truth behind the alleged organ harvesting, and providing answers to the victim and her family.
