Shock as WhatsApp Admin Shot Dead for Removing Member

A Pakistani man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing the administrator of a community WhatsApp group who had removed him from the chat, police confirmed on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, was shot dead on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has a history of sectarian violence. Police documents and officials revealed that a man named Ashfaq has been charged in connection with the murder.

According to a statement by Mushtaq’s brother, the dispute began when Mushtaq removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group following an argument. The two had arranged a meeting to reconcile, but Ashfaq allegedly arrived armed and opened fire, fatally shooting Mushtaq. The statement suggests Ashfaq acted in anger over his removal from the chat.

Incidents of violence over personal disputes are not uncommon in Pakistan, where the easy availability of firearms, tribal customs, and gaps in law enforcement contribute to such tragedies.
