Sex Worker Killed Following Dispute with Customer over Refund
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday in the cathedral area of Akure, Ondo State, where a sex worker was reportedly killed during a confrontation with a client. The altercation took place at a brothel in the Akure South Local Government Area and turned violent after a disagreement broke out between the woman and her customer.
Eyewitnesses said the argument began when the sex worker abruptly stopped their interaction, claiming to feel weak. This reportedly infuriated the male client, leading to a heated exchange. Despite efforts by the brothel manager to defuse the situation, the client demanded a refund of N15,000, which the sex worker refused to give.
The man allegedly left the premises, only to return shortly after with several unidentified individuals believed to be his associates. According to sources, the group attempted to forcibly retrieve the money, prompting the brothel manager to contact the police.
Police patrol officers arrived at the scene to find the suspect and his group still confronting the woman, whose condition had worsened. She was rushed to a hospital in the Lafe area but was rejected and referred elsewhere due to her critical state. She was eventually confirmed dead on arrival.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the case, while two others remain at large. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
