Security Forces Dismantle Criminal Camp in Anambra, Recover Explosive Devices
A coordinated security operation led by the Nigerian Police Force has successfully dismantled a criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The operation, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, involved a joint team of the Military, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante operatives.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence about the gang’s activities. Information obtained during the interrogation of suspects arrested in previous operations across the state also contributed to the success of the raid.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the collaboration between security agencies and the public. He highlighted the importance of actionable intelligence provided by vigilant citizens and urged continued cooperation to ensure the safety of residents, particularly during the festive season.
In light of the development, the police called on private and public hospital operators to report any individuals seeking treatment for bullet wounds or suspicious injuries. This measure is deemed essential for apprehending fleeing suspects and deterring future criminal activities.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining security through sustained patrols and targeted operations. It assured residents of its resolve to ensure a peaceful and secure yuletide season.
