School Children Abduction: Tinubu Personally Pained – VP Shettima
In response to the recent abduction of 287 schoolchildren in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, revealed on Saturday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued directives to security agencies to spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped children to their parents.
During a sympathy visit to Kaduna State, Vice President Shettima conveyed the President’s deep personal concern regarding the distressing incident. In a closed-door meeting with community leaders, parents of the abducted children, security chiefs, and state government officials, Shettima urged the media to exercise caution in reporting, emphasizing the paramount importance of the children’s security.
Highlighting the government’s primary responsibility to safeguard citizens’ lives and property, the Vice President assured that President Tinubu was fully committed to resolving the crisis. Shettima stated, “The President is personally pained by what happened, and he has instructed the security agencies to leave no stone unturned until we return our kids to their parents.”
Governor Uba Sani, expressing gratitude for the Vice President’s visit, expressed optimism about the ongoing rescue efforts. He emphasized the need for responsible media coverage to avoid jeopardizing the safety of the children in captivity. Governor Sani commended the Federal government’s collaborative efforts, led by President Tinubu, and praised the dedication of security agencies working towards the prompt and secure return of the abducted children.
