The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has instructed all Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) across the state’s 23 councils to submit detailed reports on their functions, staffing, and revenue sources.
This directive was conveyed through a memo from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Dame Dr. Itong Awani. Addressed to the HLGAs, the memo mandates that the reports be submitted to the Office of the Permanent Secretary no later than March 26, 2025.
The prescribed format for the reports includes an introduction, the functions of the council, a breakdown of staff by cadre, and sources of revenue within each local government area. Additionally, councils must provide details on their activities, ongoing and completed projects from the past two years, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
