Rivers Sole Administrator Cancels all Pending Procurement, Tender Processes
The Rivers State Government has announced the cancellation of all pending procurement and tender processes in compliance with a recent Supreme Court judgment.
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), the sole administrator of the state, made the announcement in a statement signed by Prof. Ibibia Worika, Secretary to the State Government, in Port Harcourt on Thursday. The decision follows the Supreme Court’s ruling, which upheld the Court of Appeal’s judgment in Suit No. CA/ABJ/CV/133/2024.
According to Ibas, the cancellation applies to procurement and tender processes carried out by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) during the affected period. He directed all MDAs involved in such transactions to refund any tender fees collected from contractors immediately.
The administrator also urged the agencies to await further directives from the state government regarding an approved spending plan, which will be communicated in due course.
