Rivers LG Polls: APP Celebrates Landslide Victory, Expresses Gratitude to Supporters
In a major political triumph, the Action Peoples Party (APP) has extended heartfelt thanks to the people of Rivers State and party loyalists for their overwhelming support in the recently concluded local government chairmanship elections. The APP secured a resounding victory, winning 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats across the state.
The results were officially declared by the Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli, on Saturday evening in Port Harcourt. As the announcement was made, the state capital erupted in jubilation, with both APP supporters and opposition members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) taking to the streets in celebration.
The victory comes amid significant political tension in the state, following the PDP’s decision to withdraw from the October 5 polls. The party’s withdrawal was linked to internal strife between the factions of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Locals who spoke with journalists expressed optimism, believing that the APP’s victory could signal the end of political oppression and instability in the state. Many residents welcomed the change, hoping it would bring about better governance at the local level.
Reacting to the win, APP’s national chairman, Barr. Uchenna Nnadi, expressed his gratitude to the people of Rivers State for placing their trust in the party. He commended their resilience in the face of attempts to halt the election through court injunctions, which were ultimately unsuccessful.
“I am elated by this landslide victory and thank God and the people of Rivers State for standing with APP,” Nnadi said. “Despite the efforts of some selfish individuals to hold onto power, Rivers people have spoken loud and clear.”
Nnadi reassured voters that the elected APP chairmen are committed to addressing the needs of their communities and ushering in a new era of development for the state’s local government areas. He emphasized that the victory marked the beginning of a journey toward liberation from political victimization and promised that the APP would bring the much-needed positive change to Rivers State.
As the dust settles, expectations are high that the APP’s leadership will deliver on its promises, with the people of Rivers State eagerly anticipating the transformation of their local governments.
