Rivers crisis: Why Tinubu will always favour Wike — Lawyer Ogwuche
A legal practitioner, Festus Ogwuche, has said President Bola Tinubu is likely to side with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the ongoing political tension in Rivers State.
Ogwuche made the remark on Tuesday during an appearance on *Prime Time* on Arise Television. He argued that Governor Siminalayi Fubara misjudged the political landscape and the depth of the relationship between the president and Wike.
According to him, Fubara should have acted with greater caution when he moved toward alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ogwuche said the bond between Tinubu and Wike goes beyond a conventional political alliance, suggesting it carries strategic weight that could influence how the crisis unfolds.
“The relationship between Wike and Tinubu is not a simple godfather–godson arrangement,” he said. “It runs deeper, in ways that are not immediately visible, and in this situation, the president will always place Wike at an advantage.”
