Rivers Crisis: Governor Fubara Convenes Security Meeting, Issues Stern Warning to Former Council Chairmen
In response to escalating political tensions, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara held a high-level security meeting on Tuesday with key security agency leaders at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The closed-door session aimed to address recent incursions into local government secretariats. After the meeting, Governor Fubara briefed the press, emphasizing that the discussions focused on strategies to manage these invasions effectively.
Governor Fubara also issued a stern warning to former council chairmen, advising them against holding any false hopes of regaining their positions. Additionally, he expressed concern over an alleged scheme by his opponents to arrest his supporters, pledging to personally safeguard them and stating that any such attempts would have to go through him first.
