Rivers Crisis: Activist Warns Ibas Not to Tamper with N1.48 Trillion Budget, Says His Job Is Over
Prominent rights activist Celestine Akpobari has cautioned the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), against touching the recently approved N1.48 trillion 2025 state budget.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, Akpobari declared that Ibas’ tenure was effectively over following the peace deal reached between Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his predecessor Nyesom Wike, and members of the state assembly.
“The job of Ibas is over,” Akpobari said, insisting that the Senate-approved budget of N1,485,662,592,442 should remain untouched.
Akpobari also urged President Bola Tinubu to lift the state of emergency declared in Rivers and allow Governor Fubara to resume full control of the oil-rich state.
